Events & Marketing Intern for

Picture
The Yard is an event venue in South College Station that I worked at in Summer of 2021 as an Events and Marketing Intern. The Yard was first built in 2011. The summer I worked we celebrated the 10th anniversary of Caprock Crossing and The Yard's first opening. The Yard was built by my boss Jesse Durden and his company, Caprock Development, as well as 55 other buildings in the area. The venue was designed to be a place in south College Station "where work people can gather, interact, shop, work, eat and experience a true sense of community." (theyardcs.com) Originally opening its doors for private event bookings in 2019, the venue had short success and even had its own name the "Southside Social Club." However, after Covid and the realization the venue was losing more money than it was earning, Caprock Development decided to disband the Southside Social Club permanently. Then, this summer the company decided there was a need for public and private event venues again and the space reopened as The Yard.
